Hello everyone! I'm Lorenzo Firmani, and today I'll guide you through my current photography gear. If you missed the previous article, I recommend checking it out to learn about my early journey in photography.
Before we begin, feel free to explore my website, where I've recently updated my photography portfolio. Take a look here: Photography Portfolio.
After my trusted Sony a6000, choosing a new camera was quite a challenge. Initially considering various brands and models, I opted for the Sony a7 IV. However, driven by economic considerations regarding lenses, I decided to stick with APS-C and chose the Fujifilm X-T5. Its powerful 40-megapixel sensor and body stabilization won me over.
The Fujifilm X-T5 is exceptional, but I encountered two issues:
Autofocus: Despite updates, AF-C still has issues, making it less competitive compared to other brands.
RAW files: Photoshop struggles to decode them correctly, resulting in a "muddy" effect on greens. The solution is Capture One, though it lacks Photoshop and Lightroom's AI noise reduction.
The first lens I bought with the X-T5 was the Tamron 18-300 F/3.5-6.3. While useful for its wide focal range, its sharpness didn't match my previous Sony 18-135. So, I invested in higher-quality lenses to fully exploit the X-T5 sensor. Here's my current setup:
Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R LM WR: Purchased for a trip to Spain, it's almost always on my camera. Perfect for landscapes, street photography, details, astrophotography, and reportage.
Sigma 18-50mm F/2.8 DC DN: Compact, lightweight, with outstanding sharpness and a fixed aperture of f/2.8. Ideal for travel and keeping things light.
Fujifilm Fujinon XF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 R LM OIS WR: Ideal super-telephoto lens for wildlife photography. Compatible with 1.4x or 2x teleconverters.
Viltrox AF 75mm f/1.2 Pro: Perfect for portraits and excellent for street photography, naturalistic details, and astrophotography. Exceptionally sharp.
For now, I'll skip details on filters, tripods, memory cards, and extra batteries. Stay tuned for more on analog photography, and thank you for your ongoing support!
